Robert Guest is the Foreign Editor of The Economist. He is in charge of the magazine’s coverage of global affairs. He travels constantly around the world and talks regularly to CEOs and entrepreneurs in all industries. He is one of a small group of editors who makeThe Economistwittier and more incisive than its competitors. He brings a truly international perspective, having reported from more than 70 countries and lived in six. His previous jobs forThe Economistinclude Business Editor, US Editor, Washington correspondent (and author of a weekly column on the United States under the pen name "Lexington") and Africa editor. He has also served as a resident correspondent in Japan and South Korea. Robert is the author of two books: "Borderless Economics: Chinese Sea Turtles, Indian Fridges and the New Fruits of Global Capitalism", which argues that migration makes the world brainier, and "The Shackled Continent", which explains why Africa was so poor and is about to get richer.
